About US:
Horn of Africa Education and Rural Development Organization (HAERDO) is a non-profit, non-governmental and strictly humanitarian organization. It is a charitable non-political association whose primary purpose is to promote development activities that will benefit people of Somaliland specially Hargeisa and Hawd Region, irrespective of their tribe, belief and political persuasion.
Our aspirations and objectives are to:
** Help provide the opportunity of education for the children of Hargeisa and Hawd particularly, Nomadic children and those returned from refugee camps in Ethiopia
** Publicize the plight of people of Hargeisa and Hawd region to the local and international agencies and make them aware of their circumstances
** Work with and mobilize support for the grassroots development projects and program
** Develop networking and partnership efforts with other Aid Agencies in Somaliland and greater Horn of Africa Region
** Facilitate and organize workshops and seminars with the objective to promote community participation, sustainability and environmental issues e.g.(uprooting of trees for charcoal, burning of local forests, poaching of wildlife and animal husbandry
Horn of Africa Education and Rural Development Organization (HAERDO) feels the needs of Hargeisa and Hawd Region of Somaliland are little known by non-governmental organizations and that's why we made one of our responsibilities to draw attention to the plight of people there.
